A Bleak/Brown Future

Image

There are only two Cleveland Browns fans at Ryan Motors, but their faith remains strong.  Sales Manager Todd Remus often sports his Browns pull-over with pride and rebuts critics with comments such as “it is always easy to cheer for a team that does well”.  Brian Knight is also on board as he always choses his team to win in the local “pick-em” game.  The truth is that the Browns have not held a winning record since 2007.  Cleveland has a recent history of poor play, so-so quarterbacks and mediocre coaching.  What will it take to get back in the race?  The Browns do not seem to have much trouble putting up points as they have scored at least 14 in all four of their losses.  Unfortunately, the defense cannot keep opponents out of their end zone.  The Browns net point total for the year stands at -25, and although this is not the worst in the league, it is certainly nothing to brag about.  Rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden is not helping the equation either as he has only thrown 3 touchdown passes to his 7 interceptions.  There is light on the horizon though as Weeden’s passing yardage has increased almost every week.  The hope therein lies with the defense.  The Browns defense currently ranks 27th out of 32 teams even though they are 2nd in total sacks and interceptions.  The defensive unit needs to start working together to put up a united front as they are allowing roughly 21 points a game.  C’mon Cleveland!  We are rooting for you!

2013 Honda Accord

Image

Oh, it is pretty.  Here at Ryan we recently received the 2013 Honda Accord and it has exceeded all of our expectations.  For starters, the vehicle looks downright awesome.  It’s sleek look is sure to attract attention when you drive down the street, but Honda recently added some new safety features that will help you stay safe when driving.

  • Heated side mirrors help prevent ice build-up in the snowy winter months.
  • Front-end cameras.  These cameras will warn you if there is an object or vehicle ahead that you are approaching too quickly.
  • Front end cameras continued: The cameras will also notify you if you are drifting out of the lane.  This helps drivers who may be prone to falling asleep during long road trips.
  • Lane departure system.  The new safety system will display the blind spots on your display screen before you merge right.
  • LED daytime lights for the darkest of nights.

There are even more cool features as well!  Stop by Ryan to check out these incredible new vehicles.

Eating Quickly….and Healthy

Image

We understand that life is chaotic.  The truth is that most people have very busy lives and we want to help you find a way to make an affordable, healthy and fast dinner.  The dinner for this week is the chicken chili.  This meal can be made in as little as 15 minutes and it will provide you with a healthy choice in a fast food time frame.

Ingredients

  • 2-2 ½ cups of shredded, cooked chicken
  • 1 can of chili beans
  • 1 can of green chilies with diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of A.1. Sweet Hickory Steak Sauce

How to Make It…

It’s really quite simple.  Pour all of the ingredients into a sauce pan and cook on medium heat for roughly 5 minutes.  Stir occasionally to ensure that the chili is heated all the way through.  Enjoy!

Learn to Love Them: Packing Peanuts

Image

What item seems to annoy you the most around your home?  Packing peanuts have to be near the top of your list as they get everywhere, especially when they break.  Put your frustration to rest as we have found a number of ways to use these small Styrofoam pieces for good.  For example, using packing peanuts for the base layer in potted plants can help increase drainage, as well as reduce the overall weight of the plant.  Packing peanuts can also be used for:

  • Pet Bedding– stuff an old pillow case with packing peanuts to make a comfortable pillow for your household buddy.
  • Suitcase Protectors– all you need is a few Styrofoam peanuts and an old plastic bag and you have a cheap way to protect any valuables from breaking in your suitcase.
  • Floating Key Chain– Stringing a few peanuts to your keys before you go boating can help you ensure that your way home will not be lost into the wet abyss.
  • Room Freshener– When sprayed with your favorite perfume or cologne, packing peanuts will help spread the wonderful scent.  Simply place the peanuts in a fun jar before spraying them down.

NFL in the Office

Image

The employees here at Ryan Motors have a variety of predictions for the NFL this year.  We thought we would share a few of these to see if you would like to voice your opinion.

  • Alvin Joswick– A true Seahawks fan.  The staff is reminded every week of the upcoming matchup, their current ranking and every other statistic you can imagine.  In Alvin’s mind, the Seahawks will go 13-3 and win it all in January.
  • Ron Hendrickson– Ron is like many North Dakotans in that he follows the Minnesota Vikings.  In his fantasy draft he chose A.P. early because of his past success, regardless of his off the field activities and reoccurring injuries.
  • Todd Remus– The Oakland Raiders reside in Todd’s heart.  They finally won a game this year when they squeaked out a victory over the Steelers yesterday.  Hopefully Carson Palmer can take a historically awful team into the playoffs.
  • Erin Stanley– The Minnesota Vikings are a favorite with this Sales Manager.  Erin stays out of the NFL debates for the most part.  He is a quiet, confident fan.
  • Brian Knight– A fan of Boston College from his early years, Brian is an avid follower of the Atlanta Falcons and Mr. Matt Ryan.  The Falcons have been on the doorstep for the last couple of years and Brian truly believes that this is the year Matt Ryan steps up and takes the cake.

Gone Fishing for Trout, Mike Trout

Image

Major League Baseball has been surprised this year by rookie sensation Mike Trout.  He is a kid, not even old enough to order beer, but he still dominates in all aspects of the game.  A true 5 tool player, he currently leads the American League in runs scored (118), stolen bases (46) and is second in batting average with a .327 clip.   Mike Trout will also be in the running for the overall top play of the year; a leaping catch that robbed J.J. Hardy of a homerun.  Oh ya, he has also smashed 27 homeruns and driven in 77 runs.  Who is this guy?  His National League counterpart, if you can even compare him to anyone, Bryce Harper, has been in the media spotlight this entire year as he is one of the few teenagers to play Major League Baseball, but he doesn’t even deserve to be in the same sentence as Mr. Trout.  Believe it or not, Mike Trout was not even selected within the first 10 picks.  He was snagged by the Angels as the 25th overall selection in 2009.  Trout does qualify as a rookie this year and there is no doubt that he will win the rookie of year, if not the league MVP and most likely a Gold Glove for center field.  The Angles are currently fighting for a playoff spot and I for one would love to see this kid in October.
