The Minnesota Vikings never cease to amaze us. How can a team grind out a quality win over the San Francisco 49ers earlier in the season and then get destroyed by a team who is under .500? Last night reminded all Vikings fans of the sad history they hold. The Vikings have to be one of the most un-clutch teams in the NFL. Ponder looked like he had no idea what he was doing. As soon as he dropped back to throw, he turned into a scared rabbit that surrendered making a great pass because he didn’t want to take a hit. Unfortunately, the Vikings cannot rely on Percy Harvin and Adrian Peterson alone to win games. The defense, which is normally great, did not live up to their expectation. Doug Martin, the rookie Tampa Bay running back out of Boise State, had a career rushing night with 135 yards. That cannot happen; the defense needs to be better. The critical question still looms: can the Vikings count on Ponder to pull them into the postseason? Probably not, as NFL.com points out, he has not even attempted a pass over 30 yards this year. Ron Hendrickson, a veteran salesman at Ryan Motors, has said from day one that the Vikings will end the season with a 6-10 record. We hope he is not right, but there is plenty of evidence to support his prediction. The good news is that this was only one game and there is a lot of season left. Turn it on Vikes!
